the cherry trees are in blossom in high park this week-end. a trip to high park is always nice. saw some ducks, geese, a swan, climbed some trees, took pictures. good times as always.


this morning i also stopped by the bazaar the zen buddhist temple is having this week-end. there i picked up some books to read on the plane and/or airports and/or the beach in thailand and/or bali.

i've been dying to do something with my geko and my pictures from last week-end, but unfortunately i haven't been able to get gps utility to talk to geko. it's frustrating to the nth degree.

today is free cone day at a ben and jerry's near you! i'll be going to the one on queen street accross from much music today at lunch. yum!

i'm a little embarassed to admit that i fell asleep during the commencement speech at my convocation, but my excuse is that it had been a long day for me, having flown in to edmonton from toronto that morning, extremely early when you factor in the 2 hour time difference. perhaps if someone like steve jobs had been the one giving a most inspiring speech, i wouldn't have fallen asleep. apparently if you have itunes you can download it, and you don't have to settle with reading the transcript like i did.

in other news, last week-end i picked up a geko 201 for my forray into gps photography. i'm still waiting for the connect to pc cable to arrive by mail, and when it does i shall have some fun with the photos and trackpoints i accumulated yesterday on a little daytrip to buffalo, ny.

on to bigger and better things!

i think that in the world of retail, calgary is known as a market that likes their toys and gadgets. sure enough, through my internet searches, the best deals i have found on the gps device i want and the digital camera i want are from stores in calgary.

i guess you can take the girl out of calgary but you can't take the calgary out of the girl. i like my toys and gadgets!

on the topic of digital cameras, again, i love flickr. it's so great being able to type a camera model into the tags and see tons and tons of pictures taken with a specific camera. it gives you an idea of what kinds of pictures you can get out of it whether you know what you're doing or not.

i completely forgot about daylight savings time last night, and setting my clock an hour ahead. good thing i am not late for wedding dress shopping at windsor bridal!
